Laundry Day Got You Down? Try This Tips to Get on Top-image

Living at Sterling Hills in Johnson City, TN means having a wonderful variety of community and apartment amenities you’re sure to love and make use of every day. We have both WD hookups as well as a community laundry facility. Make your laundry day go by easier and more efficiently by using your own and trying the tips in today’s blog post for an even better wash. Pre-treat your items. This is a given, but it’s easy to dismiss as unimportant. You don’t have to bear with a stain staying around on a forever-ruined piece of clothing if you treat the stain as soon as possible. First, remove the foreign substance. Then wipe or dab at the stain with a cloth soaked in cold water. Then wash with soap or a stain remover, including an option from this Stain Solutions Guide . Lost socks? Use mesh bags. We all know the struggle of losing socks. Avoid the problem entirely by collecting your socks in a mesh bag (one per person you’re doing laundry for, if you’re doing it for others besides yourself) and tossing the bag in the washer when it’s full. You can also use mesh bags for holding other miscellaneous items, such as stuffed animals. Load strategically. Keep your things sorted by sorting as you go, day by day, and washing according to the directions on the tags. Make it easier to remember what goes together by keeping a whiteboard by your washer. As you load, make notes of anything that can’t go in the dryer so it’s easier to pull the items out when you switch loads. Be courteous. Our laundry facilities are open for all members of our apartment community to use, so practice proper etiquette and communicate respectfully with anyone you interact with while you’re doing laundry. Clean up spills completely, set a timer so you can move your items promptly, and be patient waiting for machines to open. Report problems you have with machines to our offices so we can get them taken care of as soon as possible. What other laundry day tips keep your clothes in great condition and save you time and energy? Share your thoughts with the rest of us by leaving a comment! Thanks for reading. Good luck!

National Courtesy Month at Sterling Hills-image

Welcome to the brand new blog for Sterling Hills, our apartment homes serving the Johnson City community. We will update this blog every few weeks to keep you up to date with local events in and around Johnson City, Tennessee as well as recommendations for local restaurants, attractions, and more. We’ll also speak to topics that deal with apartment living, like suggestions for decorating, organizing, and making the most of your experience at our apartment community. Perhaps we’ll bring you book and movie reviews or craft projects and recipes. Truth be told, we hope to bring you a little bit of everything to make your time at Sterling Hills memorable. Because it’s September, we thought we’d kick off our blog with some tips for courtesy in honor of National Courtesy Month.  Be polite when using common areas. Sterling Hills community amenities are there for everyone to use, and your use of them can have a long-lasting effect on how others use it. Be careful and polite when you’re using these amenities. Clean up after yourself, avoid damage and talk to management if an emergency occurs, and be willing to share space. Be careful around animals. We are a pet-friendly apartment community, and we know how delightful animals are. But they’re not always as predictable as they seem, and like humans, they deserve respect and care. Communicate with the owners of any animals you see before petting or letting your little ones pet them. If you’re a pet owner, do what you can to teach them to be friendly around others, keep up with their immunizations, and clean up after your pet. Mind your manners. This applies to every aspect of life, whether you’re in an apartment community or not — and it deserves a highlight because it’s so universal. Minding your manners means thinking of others’ comfort and doing what you can to help that. Think of others’ needs and wishes and be willing to make accommodations to help everyone feel respected and happy. This means keeping the noise in your apartment down and even being friendly to those you interact with, even in passing. Politeness does a lot to foster healthy communication and peaceful living.
